BCSOT workshops and events
BCSOT provides information about other education events relevant to occupational therapists via our Members’ Only section, electronic bulletins and OTLine newsletter. Please contact BCSOT at info@bcsot.org with the details of your event and we may include it in our listings. Links to conference or workshop websites are particularly helpful to our members. Visit the Upcoming BCSOT events section of our website for more information.
OTLine Newsletter
The BCSOT newsletter, the OTLine, is produced 4 times a year. BCSOT accepts graphic & text advertising. For more information, see our advertising page.
Professional liability insurance
HDF Insurance offers BCSOT’s Professional Liability Insurance Program designed specifically for BCSOT Members. This exclusive program includes features that are unavailable in other plans and at lower rates than competing programs. Go to the Associations icon on HDF’s website for details and an application form at www.hdfinsurance.com. Only current BCSOT members are eligible to purchase this insurance.
BCSOT strongly recommends that all BCSOT members carry personal liability insurance in addition to the basic coverage offered by public sector employers. Hospital, clinic and other employer plans do not offer the Legal Expense Reimbursement or Criminal Defense Reimbursement included in our program. Neither do employer’s plans cover personal liability for volunteer or pro bono work, again offered by the BCSOT plan.
BCSOT Member Directory
5,000 copies of the printed BCSOT Member Directory are distributed in January each year to all BCSOT Members, physician and specialist offices across British Columbia, WCB, ICBC, insurance companies and other referral sources. Libraries around the province also receive copies of the BCSOT Member Directory for public reference. The information in the print version is exactly the same provided in our online OT Search tool.
Advocacy for Occupational Therapy
BCSOT is the voice of occupational therapists in British Columbia. BCSOT speaks up for members, protecting their interests within the healthcare system, profiling the profession with other health professionals, and promoting access to occupational therapy services. To learn more about how BCSOT promotes occupational therapy, see our Promoting Occupational Therapy page.
